Sept. 6 Sept. 11 | DUTCH PLANS FOR CHINA Sugar traders in Java are now planning to develop a market in China in the hope that they may be able to make" good the loss of their British Indian market. They may establish a factory in Shang- hal. If this scheme materialises, Japan will incur a fatal blow in bersugar trade with China, it is feared.

Pierce & Co All gossip connected with inBa- tion with particular emphasis on the remarks of Benster Harrison, have been published on the news ticker: that the Administration would soon take some type of inflationary action to boost commodity price levels. It looks like a two sided market, with the relative strength of industriala and with utilities lagging,
Wheat: Prices advanced on renewed inflation news but reacted on sales in Winnipeg, induced by the removal of the peg on prices in that city.
Cotton: The market opened stronger and continued higher on pur* ́ chases by commission houses and domestic and foreign trade interests.
Silver: The volume of business increased as prices advanced. Speculators and commission house are buying heavily. Banks and foreign interests sold at the high levels.
Java used to export 1,700,000 to 2,000,000 tons every year to the British Indian market, but owing" to the effort by the Indian Gov-' ernment to bring the domestic m dustry to a self-supplying basis- as evidenced by the establishment of a semi-government company and the increase of the import duty-her exports have been brought to vanishing point. The Nivas, representing all
Hios sugar tradera, is now busy making an extensive study of the market in Japan, Manchuria and China. An expert is already on an inspection trip.
