From the early years of the 16th Century, the vessels of Portugal have ploughed the waters of the alluring East, and on the mainmasts of the ships fluttered the flag of Portugal. Sailing on the wings of adventure came the seamën of Lusitania, bringing new worlds and now roads to the West, for the Portuguese were the first to "bring" Asia to Europe by sea.
