Athletic Meeting of Hongkong Area.
FINALS TO-DAY
The arst day's events of the Hong Kong Aron Athletic Meeting which took place yesterday at 800 kumpoc gave promise of some ox- cellent sport this afternoon. Five
Bents
were concluded yesterday and the South Wales Borderers are
now loading in points with the Royal Artillery a good second.
One of the most interesting items yesterday was the three mile team race in which the team of the Hong Kong Singapore Brigade R.A. finished first although a member of the Lincoln Regiment was the first to breast the tape. The race was very keenly contested over the whole of the three miles and the result was open up to the very last stride.
In the high jump event Lt. CrOBY well of the South Wales Borderers cleared five feet six inches.
Yesterday's results were as fol-
lows:-

A Ramble On The Island
SCENERY & POINTS OF INTEREST
(CONTRIBUTED.)
Sunday, Feb. 26, 1033. A cold, foggy day, with slight drizzle and wind, but our party of 6 was not deterred from making the planned outing, an excursion on the Island. Our 7 seater Willys Knight first travelled through Wan- an essentially a chai, which is Chinese thoroughfare, with shops ablling overy, commodity, from old nails and tins to sharks fins and petrol. In a short while we turned into the wide reclamation road; which, in the short space of two years, is well built over with Chi- fiese houses, Hats and shops. We pased the Polo ground on right, and the Yacht Club on our left, the Talkoo Sugar Refinery and Dockyard with its small village of houses for the employees, and then on towards Lyemoon Pass.. the narrow entrance to Hong Kong's
our
beautiful harbour. The Chinese have crected along this road on the water front their various club mat. sheds for bathing. It is a popular pastime during the summer months, and makes a colourful and gay
scene.
This road brought us to the end of the main thoroughfare, and we mounted at a fork to the right, leaving all village life behind us.
