When we met last year I ventur- ed the opinion that Frinters Limit ed, another subsidiary, had turned the corner, but I regret to say that the result of the past year still shows a loss which has been debit- ed to the profit and loss account of Fraser and Neave Ltd.
For some years the office appli ances section of Printera Ltd. gavoi a substantial return on the capi tal invested, but conditions have changed, profite have disappeared, and we have now thought it ad- visable to withdraw from this class if business. Liquidation of stocks has been in progress for some months and in anticipation of an ultimate loss, your directors have recommended the transfer of: $5,000 frem profit and loss to stock reserve.
Malayan Breweries Limited.
The accounts of this company, in which we have a substantial in- terest, have just been published, and show that a profit was earned from the beginning of trading operatione. The annual meeting will be held early next month.
