"New Wings Opened By H.E. The Governor
IMPORTANCE OF PROPER MANAGEMENT
Tha new wings of the Tung Wah Eastern Hospital were formally opened by His Excellency the Governor, Sir William Peel, K.O.M.G., K.B.E., yesterday, in the presence of a large gathering of local residents.
His Excellency arrived punctually at 3.30 p.m. in the company of his A.D.O., Captain Walker, and was conducted through the new wings by Mr. Chan Lim Pak, the Chairman,
In the course of his speech, His Excellency made several sug- gestions for the improvement of the hospital, and anid that the appointment of a manager for the hospital chould be carefully con sidered as that person would, to a large extent, be responsible for the efficiency of the horpital staff, and the obviation of any pos-· sibilities of slackness or even abuzas which are prone to grow "in any institution.
His Excellency also paid a warm tribute to the Hospital Com. mittees, and remarked that these gentlemen acted as a most valu- able connecting link between the Government and the Chinese com- munity,

We, the Directors of the Tung Wah Hospital, feel it a great hon our that Your Excellency has 80 kindly come hero'to-day to perform the Opening Ceremony of the Com plated Tang Wah Eastern Hospital. We also thank all the guests who are gathered here to witness this auspicious ceremony.
His Excellency to-day, many be con- sidered a closing touch to the Tung Wah Eastern Hospital so far, as its construction is concerned, and the Chinese community of the Colony are to be congratulated on the ac- quisition of so useful an institu- tion as this.
