GIRL GUIDES

DURING the past twenty-five years the world has suffered some start ling changes, Primarily the Great War is held responsible for this. In one sense that view is justified, for although the war did not cause the altered outlook we find to-day, it did speed up at a terrific rate the changes which were until then being slowly made. The result is that manners, customs, and habits of thought, speech, and action are very different from what they were. Even the most conservative con- ventions of the most conservative class have been in many cases abandoned. This is particularly so as regards women and girls. The young women of to-day are living in a world which would have been regarded as utterly impossible and incredible a quarter of a century
