his experience.

Mr. Norman Birkett, K.C., plain tiff's counsel, said that plaintiff was the wife of Lord Louis Mount- batten, a naval officer at, present attached to the Mediterranean Flect. In August, 1931, he was ordered with his ship to Malta for Ant appointment which, in the ordi nary way, would be for two years. A was only natural and right Lady Louis decided to go with him, tak ing her children with her. She in- tended to make her home in Malta for the period of her husband's
service.
That inevitable and natural desire on her part to be with her husband gave rine, it would appear, to abominable rumours. Lady Louis took a prominent part in the social life of London, and hor departure, which was stated in the Press at the time to be for about two years, gave the opportunity for the malignant, poisonous and lying tongues of scandal to wag.
Decision to Read Libel.
"It is not too much to say," went on counsel," that it is the most monstrous and most atrocious libel
posed to be referred to in this article. She has never even met him, nor had anything whatever to do with him in any shape or form," "Lady Louis Mountbatten was compelled to bring the proceedings publicly to vindicate her good
name.
