"MONOPOLY "OF YACHTSMEN.

An interesting address on yachting in Hong Kong wis delivered Mr. A. L. Shields at the Rotary Club yesterday.

Mr. Shields said that the opportunities for cruising in Hong Koag waters were unsurpassed. The scenery was magnificent, and bo doubted whether five per cent, of his audience who had spent good money to visit bonuty spots and enjoy the soonery, had any knowledge of the beautiful cantora waters.

The speaker also paid a tribute to the skill and decution of Chinese boat boya.

The meeting was prosided over by Dr. R. W. Tao.

TRIBUTE TO THE CHINESE BOAT-BOY.

Mr. Shields said: The history of yachting in Hong Kong, goes back almost as far as the history of the Colony. In the "forties of the last century yachting was still in its infancy in England Tha Roy a Yacht Squadron dates from 1812; it was then called the Yacht Club, but no regular rogatta was held un- til several yours later.
