BY MORNING DEW."]
In spite of unpromising weather conditions there was a very large crowd at Kwanti yesterday, when the Fanling Hunt and Basu Club held their Christmas Meeting
The feature of the racing was the success of Mr. W. T. Stan- .” ton who won the first three races on the card.
A flat race over a mile ridden by ladies proved to be a very popular event as no fewer than fourteen candidates took the field.: Mrs. Frost on Monterey Bay won the race, Mini P. Scott Harston,' on Grey Dawn, coming in a good second.
فال
The biggest dividend of the day was paid by Discord when ho won a flat race over a mile and quarter and ousted the fav- ourite, City Hall. Mr. 5. Y. Liang rode the winner and handled, him beautifully; bringing him out at the right moment to bent City** Hall by half a longth
Cups won during the meeting were later presented by 'Mrs. Mac- Gown. Mrs. Frost was presented with a cup for winning the Ladies Mile, while silver couvchirs were also presented to riders of the second and third ponics Mr. W.. T. Stanton, whose candidates won the St. Nicholas Hurdles Race and Tie Shataukuk Handicap was pro- zented with two silver cups,
Owing to the large attendance there was a crush at the betting counters, but no doubt this matter
will soon be remedied by the Com- mitter in charge of parimutuols at Kwanti. The Cash Sweeps aleo proved immensely popular and the returns showed higher figures,"
The band of the Second Battalion, The Argyll and Sutherland High- landers rendered a pleasing selec- tion of music during the afternoon.
THE RACING.
The Christmas Pudding Blakes,
The opening race of the day drow five starters with Target (Mr. Stanton) a hot favourite and Fan ling Stng next in demand.
Target was sent out to the van early on and rau round the course at ono pace, finishing many lengths ahead of Fern Leaf, which was the only other animal to finish.
Fanling Stag ran quite promising le at the outset, but about three furlongs from home, he refused to fun, and did not finish. Suere and Pentole also stopped after the first mile.
THE RESULTS.

The St. Nicholas Hurdio Race. The public backed fairly evenly in this event where foun ponics no cepted. The Goods being the least), backed pony,
November and San Francisco strove for leadership early on with One Third hanging conveniently hehind. The Goods was out of the raze from the word "Go."
San Francisco can promisingly until half a mile from home, when November gradually forged ahead and finally won by two lengths.. San Francisco was a good second.
The Shataukok Handicap. and Duke of Milan were the only As You Like It, Christmas Frolic, starters in this гасе
over two
miles.
Mr. Stanton riding Christmas Frolie" registered his third conse entivo win of the day. As You Like It stayed close to Christmas Frolic over the first mile and a quarter but could not keep up after that distance and gradually dropped out of the picture. Christmas Frolic came home by himself .
The Kwangel Handicap, City Hall started a firm favourite for this flat race over a mile and a quarter. He led most of the way with the rest of the field koeping close behind. The pony could not increase his speed when he entered the final straight and a strong challenge by Discord and Shiny Pearl resulted in a win by the former by half a length from City Hall, Shiny Pearl was a further length behind. The winner 'paid & little over 7.1 which was the best dividend of the doș,
The Ladies' Mile. The popularity of this ovent can be gauged by the fact that the field was the biggest of the day, no fewer than fourteen animals facing the starter.
