BALPH'S SHIELD

COMPETITION.

By kind permission of the Mili- tury Authorities, the Annual Am- bulance inter-divisional competition for the Ralph's Shield took place on, the Murray Parade Ground on Sunday, December 14 and 21.

The competition consisted of two separate parts:----

(a) Company and Stretcher Drill,

Inspection of Uniform.

(b) Practical Work, Treatment of Cases, together with varying method of transport, and inspection of haversack equip. ment.

The tests (eight in number) which were conducted by Colonel C. Miles, R.A.M.C., Assisted by members of his staff, Majors Harris, M.C, and Flood M.C. were of a most search- ing and exneting character and necessitated a thorough knowledge of text book and of the practical side of the work;

The keenness of the competing divisions is indicated by the final, results when but two marks separ- ated the first and second- divisions -The King's College (present) Boys and- the Y.M.C.A. (Hong Kong) Division, 87 per cent. and 80 per cont. respectively.

At the conclusion of the Competi tion, Colonel Myles, in congratulat- ing the winners, spoke in high terms' and praise on the general turn out, the completeness and efficiency of
