"Near Lake Tanganyika I had an adventure with a gorille. A ter- rible-looking ape more than six feet high suddenly attacked our party. One of the native boys was hurt, and had he not been the victim I most surely would have been. I that gorillas will not harm women, and bad I heen alone, this one would have been quite friendly. Evectually my boys speared the ape, and carried its skin around triumphantly for weeks.
