PASSES AWAY WHILE ON HOLIDAY.
A cable was received by the local office of the Vacuum Oil Company yesterday to the effect that their thief accountant, Mr. G. H. Arnold had passed away in Capada on Sunday. Mr. Arnold was on holi- day with his family at the time.
He leaves a wife, two sons and a baby daughter to mourn his loss, for whom much sympathy will be extended. The elder son, Mr. G. W. Arnold is on the staff of the Vacuum Oil Company, with which Arm the deceased had been connect- ed for five years.

ECHO OF WATER SHORTAGE.
PRAYA TANKS BEING DEMOLISHED.
The large water tanks erected during the water shortage last year on the water front are at last being pulled down. A letter from a sodown owner protesting against the existence of one such tank which stood right in front of his establishment was read in the Chi- nese Chamber yesterday, but the Chairman announced that the pro- test need not be considered as he sbserved that the tanks were al- ready being demolished.
