New York, June 11.-Professional bear operators again hammered the market on the New York Stock Exchange to-day, when with absence of support there was a resultant declind of some stocks to the most
severe degree since, last November says the daily review of the Dow Jones Financial News Agency.
Loss In Paper Values.
It was estimated that paper values were down approximately G.81,000,000,000. Sales for the day, totalled 4,471,100 shares.
The unsettled situation as regards, passage and signature of the Sint-Hawley Tariff Bill, coupled with the fact that world reparation bonds are to be offered on Friday, gave little help to a market with light volume of trading up to the close.
A slight rally followed last- minute banking support, and "im. proved closing agures in some in stances...
Declines In Industrials. Industriais showed a great de- cline, the Dow Jones average for 30 issues being of 8.21 to 249.08. U.S. Steel dropped three points to 163); Bethlehem was off 1 to 1081: and Ludulum was up an eighth to 30]. Westinghouse "declined 14" to 1561. General Electric was off 4 to 74. American Can again dropped, the close finding it at 134), off 41, American Rolling Mill was off if to 644 Davision Chemical was off two to 30, and Du Pont was off five to 117.
Among the automotives, General Metors declined 11 to bili Hudson was off two to 307; Chrysler was down to 32; and Packard was uff
to 33.
Anaconda Copper was off 1 to 34: Kennicott was down 1 to 411; Nevada Consolidated was down a quarter to 1; American Smelting was down 1 to 67; and Calumet & Hecla gained to close at 173.
Utilitles and Rails
The Dow Jones average for 21 utilities was off 3.76 to 91.65.- American Tel. & Tel. was down 52 to 217 and International Tel. & Tel, was down 33 tó 543. American & Foreign Power was off 44 to 748; Consolidated Gas was off 4 to 120 Columbia Cas was off 43 to 73); and Standard Gas was off 41 to 1001. On the Kerb, Electric Bond & Share was down 34 to 928.
Among the rails, which showed a decline of 9.53 to 135.83 on the Dow Jones average for 90 issuch; Penn- sylvania was off to 74; New York Central was off 44 to 1652; Erie was down
point to 401; Union Pacific was off three points to"919; Rock Island was off. Ik to 105%; B. & 0. was off to 1031; and Canadian Pacific gained to close at 197.
Other Stocks. Eastman Kodak took a heavy slump to close at 2191, down 121 from yesterday. Vanadium. closed down to 93). Gold Dust was off 31 to 36). Fox Film "A" was off 41
to 45. Goodyear Tire was off 5% to
76. Standard Oil of New York was off to 32 and Standard of New Jersey was off 33 to 71.
