HONG KONG TRAMWAYS jumped rather suddenly at the opening of business on Tuesday, and a very large cash and forward business was done in this stock. Cash shares touched as high as 823.25, bus closed on Saturday with

From what I can see, the general appreciation of rates has mennt a profit for the majority of improved, and I understand a fairly thead interested in shares. While 1 large business was done at 872 to I am not a pessimist, my advice to $79.75. There are further buyers those who have profit to show is this take your profit. Notwith-at 8. standing the present glut of money in Hong Kong, I am afraid those who hold on too long are liable to dose some or all of their profit. There should be a slight easing-of in prices during the summer months, when it would be time cnough to come in again,
"Artiicial Boosting" There is one complaint I have heard last week from several brokers which deserves publicity. Much of the boosting in the mar- két is artificial, inasmuch as per- sona desirous of acquiring shares generally make inquiries from a number of brokers instead of one man or firm. The result is that the market seems to be full of buying inquiries when in fact only one party is buying This tends to push up prices at the expense of the actual buyer who by giving an indication of his requirements to more than one firm, is"really doing himself a bad turn.
HONG KONG. BANKS: This stock showed a slight improvement during the week, and a far busi ness was done between 81,395 and 81,420. The market closed slightly casier, and shares can now be ob tained at $1,410. The demand ap- pears to be satisfied at the moment, and a slight reaction is likely.

Your scheme to sell the hold- $900 inga piecemeal is quite good if you can be sure that the price is going to mount gradually, but I am afraid you may have to wait long time and meanwhile there is the interest to remember. Also, have you considered whe ther there are ̄any ́surer” stocks |~$27 than the one in which your friend so deeply interested which might give a better return? If so would it be wise to tie up this big sum in one stock.
