The swimming season is now opening, and Victoria Recreation Club are already making arrange. ments for a series of night fetes. It is hoped that contests with the Northern ports will be held this summer but details of arrangements are not yet to hand. Mr. J; R. Johnson, the holder of many local records, may take no netive part in swimming this year. He will in- stead do some coaching work, but should the Interpart contests come off it is hoped that he will take part in & few races, as his services to the Colony in the past are not forgotten and will be greatly missed if he takes no active part.
