our course. His record in Shanghai shows that out of 388 mounts he ab. tained 34 wins, 33 seconds, and 31 tbirda. He was unplaced 280 times.
Mr. O. Encarnacao.
This was the jockey on last year's Derby winner. He has never won the Champions here, but got second place in that race on one occasion.
Last year in Hong Kong he rode
5 winners, had 7 seconds, and 3 thirds. He was unplaced 13 times. In Shanghai during 1020 he rode 37 winners 52 seconds, 45 thirds and

MANY DISAPPOINTMENTS ON THE COURSE.
THE TIGER FAILS TO SHOW WINNING FORM: TAME FINISH TO FAST GALLOP
KING'S BOUNTY LACKS STRONG FINISH.
[By "MORNING DEW.”]
Those who did not go to Happy Valley to see the early morn ing gallops yesterday missed some real pointers. The Tiger, one of the most fancied animals for the Derby,, was sent over a mile and a ball, and literally gave himself away. King's Bounty also failed to show Derby-winning form.
The Tiger started with a quarter of 34 seconds. "This was followed by one of 33 seconds, and the next was 32. It looked as if this animal would settle the Derby problem when he travelled an- other quarter of 32.2 seconds to completo the mile in minutes 11.9 seconds, but the last half-mile told on him, the fifth quar- ter occupying 35 seconds and the last 35.1 seconds. The animal appeared all out, and no one could say he did not do his work honestly. Mr. Harriman, who was in the saddle, did not use his. whip, but urged the animal fully without getting the desired response...
King's Bounty, who, it will be recalled, did an excellent gallop last week, went over a mile in minutes 11 seconds, an excellent performance but for the irregularity of the various quar- tors. The pony (with Mr. Haimovitch up) started with a 30 seconds quarter, and went on to do his half-mile in 1 minute 14 seconds. His next quarter took 37.9 seconds, and although ho finished in 31.4 seconds the performance was far from impressive. What would happen in a rate with another half a mile to go remains to be conjectured, but this much seems certain-that if the Derby is won in 3 minutos 11 seconds or under; King's Bounty will not be the one to do it.
Of the four griffins from the Hynes and Mackie stable, Fizallili is still the best performer. He went over a mile and a quarter in 2 minutes, 49.1 seconds, and finished very, strong indeed. The con-. sistency of Picallil's performances from week to week marks him is one of the best griffins in training.
Airican Eve and Wisdom Stag are both shaping well, and it looks as if the Derby will rest between these two ponies and Picallii, unless Diana Bay really proves the crackerjack he is re puted to be.
The Partridge, belonging to Hon. Mr. W. E. L. Shenton, show. ed a very strong burst of speed at the end of a mile and quarter gallop, and Peppermint also finished well, both bursts taking 30 a seconds..
Apollo galloped yesterday over three-quarters of a mile. His finish in 28.3 seconds is, to say the least, remarkable. This pony seems to be "cert" for the Champion,
The Hall stable galloped yesterday. Marquis and Royal Hall doing very well, and will be worth fellowing in the shorter rares President Hall was also sent out, but he is a tried performer, and his time does not convey very much. He is in fine condition.
The following times were clocked yesterday on the sand-
course-
