LESSON SERMON.
FIRST CHURCH OF CHRIST,
"SCIENTIST HONG KONG.
"Spirit" was the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on February, 8.
Sunday,
The Golden Text was: "Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts (Zech. 4; 8).
Among the citations which com prised the Leeson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: "I there fore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are cal- led. Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling: One Lord, une faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you, all (Eph, 4: 1,3-6).

THE WOMAN'S CORNER.
BRITISH TRIUMPH IN TWEEDS.
We have the best tweeds.
We
also have the best tailors. Never- theless, the best tailored tweeds are to be found in the Paris dress shows,
Some of the tweeds are so soft and pliable that they can be used for the smartest kind of morning dresses. People also are beginning to discover that tweed and leather are an excellent mixture for coun try cloths. We do not, however, make the most of these materials, which are here at hand waiting by the yard to be turned into really smart-suite
English und American women are wearing tweeds and wool clothes more and more. The Paris dress- makers have realised the impor tance of these materials and are paying very marked attention to them.
Every year crowds of American women come to Great Britain on purpose to do sightseeing and shop- ping. They know that our tailors, cutters, and twoods are the best in the world. So their ambition, after they have seen Westminster Abbey, Warwick Castle, and Shakespeare's birthplace, is to take home a real. English sports suit.
In Paris this autumn every dress house has its own ideas about tweeds and wool clothes. For in- stance, almost all of the thick tweed costs in one collection are belted' in at the waist with leather belts.
Many of them have wide panels "let into the coat at an angle and hanging in a long point below the hem line at one side.
Sometimes there is a straight back panel that hange in a long point that is slit up the centre for about ten or twelve inchea. Very
high, close-fitting collars made of j caracul, broadtail, astrakhan, or other hard-wearing furs are used on the tweed conts. Curiously shaped fur cuffs to match are plac ed halfway up the forearm.

Most of the tweed coats in this show reach to just above the kace. This is the newest length, and it
is very smart.
In some dress, shows the short tweed conta have high fur collars,
and are belted in at the waist. The skirts belonging to these coats have box pleats, or panels stitched on to look like large box pleats, that hang below the hern line.
Strappings of tweed are used, on tweed conts and skirts this winter. Hands of tweed cross right over the high fur collar at the neck and over the fur. cuffs, giving a very amart new finish to them. Strap- pings of twoed are stitched on the toat and skirt so that they hang below the hem lino in little points or rounded ends.
Full length, tweed coats can ha worn over dresses of soft wool cloth
