The combined Ironside"-Kwang si forces are now almost within range of the Canton lines along the North River, between Samshui and Yingtak. Some rix days ago the "Ironsides began an advance from Puntak, one bady of troops marching on Yingtak vid Lingshan, Yangshan and Yanghsien. The re

The proposed legislation has already been published in the Government Guirtle and extensive quotations have appeared in the Daily Press.
Mr. Batters said that on Septem- ter 10, 1928, the . Tilawa sailed with some 400 women and children
amigrants for the Strait Settle- ments. Among this number were the complainant and the defendant. They were members of a party of five who were all registered at the S.C.A, in Hong Kong before leav ing the Colony. The girl was atat- ed at the Office to be the sister-in law of the defendant, and a false name was given.
In September 1929, a year later, 2 man came to the S.C. A. Office and identified the photograph of the complainant as that of his daughter, who, he said, had left the house without his knowledge. The matter was taken up with the S.C.A. The two bodies of "Ironsides " troops are supposed to be close to Yingtak and Siwi, and at their present rate of advance should be attacking at any time. It is expect ed that the Canton troops will endeavour to hold both places. Strong entrenchments have been prepared and gunboats and aero-day, November 25, amounted planes have been ordered to support the troops in the field.
CANTON OPTIMISTIC. Generals Chen Ming Shu and Chen Tsai Tong are still very optimistic, pointing out that the planes, gunbonts and steady supply of ammunition from the Canton arsenal should more than counter balance any disparity in numbers. They have, moreover, the use of three railways and the rivers for rapid transport of troops and sup- plies.
The invaders, on the other hand, are living off the country, march- ing overland and cut off from any
scurces of ammunition.
"WANG CHING WEI WORKING
FOR A TRUCE?
Chinese papers continue to assert that Wang Ching Wei has arrived in Hong Kong and that he has "in- structed the Ironsides" leader
to come to terms with the Canton Higher Command. Both Wang Ching Wei and Chang Fat Fui realise that it would prove fruitless to invade Kwangtung in view of the reinforcements being sent down from Nanking.
