The speaker pointed out that Chi-30 nese athletes at the Far Eastern Olympiads always did poorly and it was with a view to producing a better standard, that he had done what little he could, to assist the Association.

Other speakers included Mr. Wong Kwang Tin, Mr. Họ Lưu, BT. Chan Lim Pak and the secretary of a well-known sporting institution in Canton. All speeches were made before a microphone.

Headed by a band, the committec and officials of the Association and the competitors marched round the track and each contingent was cheer- ed as it passed the big gathering of spectators.

The sports commenced with a hundred yards race followed by discus throwing. During this item which is always a long one and of no particular interest except to experts, the spectators were treated to a clever éxhibition of Chinese boxing and a display of the lion dance.

A volley ball game was played while the long jump was in pro gress to keep things going and give the spectators an alternati' e attrac- tion:

The championship is still very open and much depends on the results to-day. Taikoo will go all cut to avenge their last defeat at the Valley when they recrive Craigengower. It is a vital game for the latter, as the points would make their position almost safe even if their closest rivals also succeed. They receive Civil Service, who ought to put up a good fight. Recreio are not out of the race altogether, and in the event of their wianing the remaining two matches, they can still get the same number of points as the leaders, should the latter be defeated."

What's wrong with the Baseball Club: That's a question I will leave to wiser heads than mine to solve. They have easily the biggest hitters as a team I mean-in the league, yet they cannot get going. «Burrell made about the biggest hit in the Navy Field diamond so far in the above-mentioned match, yet he only made two bases on it. In the same game Tem Chin socked the ball to left-field, and though it did not travel as far as Burrell's hit, Tom made the circuit run on
