A SURPLUS SUPPLY,

Messrs. Pentrenth & Co. have kindly forwarded us the following letter, dated May 10, from Messrs. Hornby Hemelryk & Co., Liver- pool

The London market shows a fur- ther decline of about 3§d, for Raws and about 3d. for Whites since our Inst report.

Further continuous liquidation has been seen in both the London and New York markets during the past week, and the lack of fresh buying power has been more noticeable than for some time past. Both British And American Refiners are holding Inrge stocks of Raws, and, in spite of the com. paratively low prices, they are ex- periencing great difficulty in dis- posing of the refined product. This naturally removes for the time being a most important "buy ing factor from the market.
