The suggestion that the utterance of the word "No" constituted the publication of a slander was made in an action heard by Mr. Justice Horridge and a commen jury in the King's Bench Division recently. He then asked Mr. Hayes if he denied having used those words and Mr. Hayes said, "No."
Mr. Clayton said that it was a class of offence that did not often arise. The last case was in 1908. It was not deliberately done by the arm; it was a mistake, but one that should not arise.
Boy's Body Burned. Relating the facts, Mr., Clayton said that a Mrs. Faster was in hos pital and gave birth to a boy. Ia the same hospital was a man who died, and it was arranged by the relatives of the man that his body should be cremated. The defen- dants undertook to do it. Mrs. Foster's child having died and Mrs. Foster being in a bad state of health, she left the burial of the child with the hospital authorities. Leverton and Son went to the hoar pital with the idea of taking away the body of the man, and the hospital authorities asked them to burs the boy.
