The Annual Inspection by His Excellency the Governor, Sir Cecil Clementi, K.C.M.G., Knight of Grace of the Order of St. John, was held yesterday on the Murray Parade Ground at 5.18

An interesting demonstration of work was given by the Brigade, after which His Excellency presented the various trophies won during the year, and invested Mr. A. Morris, as Serving Brother of the Order of St. John.

In the course of his speech His Excellency stressed the valuable work which the members of the Brigade did for all sections, of the community and expressed his surprise that it did not have more active support from the European residents.

The Inspection.
The main body of the Brigade were drawn up in two lines facing His Excellency, the members of the Victoria Nursing Association being grouped on the left facing towards the Cathedral, and between them and the entrance gate, at which stood the members of the Kowloon Canton Railway Division, was a long line of cars and ambulances marked with the Red Cross.
Demonstration of Work. The demonstration of work was perhaps the most interesting pari of the inspection for the spectators, and a ripple of laughter was heard when an order which may have been victims forward was given and a number of school boys, some of them in shorts and shirts and others in Chinese dress, stepped to the front each with a mat on which to have his pre-arranged "acci dent."

TWO CHINESE. FINED.
Two Chinese were before Mr. T. S. Whyte Smith at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday on charges of attempting to sell coloured water, which they described as brandy, to Mr. F. I. Sousa of Na 3, Minden Avenue, Kowloon.
Mr. Sousa, giving evidence, asid that the defendants offered to sell two bottles of "Hennessy brandy" for 85, but later agreed to sell the two bottles for 84. Wishing to sa- certain whether the contents were brandy or tea, witness said that he withheld payment and asked his daughter to get a corkscrew, On bearing this the two defendants ran away but were chased by the wit ness who caught the second defen- dant,

The first defendant said that the brandy" was given to him by a friend and that he did not know that it was only coloured water. The other accused said that he had merely gone with the first defen- dant. The magistrate found both defendants guilty and imposed s fine of $50 or one month's hard labour on both defendanta

KOWLOON TONG MURDER
CHARGE WITHDRAWN.
The four Chinese arrested in con- nection with the murder of a Chinese gardner at Eli Cottage, Old Kowloon Tong were again be- fore Mr. T. 8. Whytes Smith yesterday. Detective Inspector Lane applied for the withdrawal of the charge and substituted charges of receiving stolen property. The Magistrate agreed and the case was remanded for a week.
