MACAO RACES.
DOUBTFUL WINS MAIN RACE.
MR. N. HASHIM'S MY LADY TAKES
LONG DISTANCE EVENT.
[BY EARLY BIRD.]
The going was a little on the heavy side, but it did not spoil the racing altogether as some very good times were returned.
Weather conditions did not tend much better suited had the geing to make visitors at the 13th Eaten been different. At fagfall Mowgli Race Meeting of the Macao Race and Sunning were on the easy side. Club particularly cheerful, buti | of the start and went for position happily, the light showers only immediately, waiting for Wuchang to make the running which he did caused minor inconvenience for which the axeredingly good sport coming 'round the bend. First time past the judges box Wachang, amply compensated.
Bright Prospect and My Lady werO together, with a length or two separating Sunning, Mowgli, Ching Hoi and Fanling Stag. After a mils had been covered Mowgli made an effort to come through but it was of no avail as the little skew. bald chucked it and thenceforth fell back to finish amongst the also rans. At the five furlong post Wuchang was still at the head of affairs with. My Lady wall positioned and wait- ing for the home turn, where she was given her head and quickly succeeded in getting on terms with the leader.

The Big Cash. Sweep. Six thousand tickets were sold for the big 81 cash sweep which were drawn on the New Year Stakes. The results were:-

New Year Novice Raca. Mr. Artur Torres Fontes, with the assistance of his diminutive mount, showed his superiority over the rest of the opposition by winning in effortless fashion in this event. As Intioned, in my notes on Satur day the winning jockey has shown. a marked improvement in his riding of late, and all the glory of the win must be attributed to his sound Major Roche-Kelly added to the judgment in keeping his mount well Juccess of the meeting by the in hand till almost round the home turn when he pushed to the front efficient and prompt manner in and cantered home a good four "which all the starts were despatch-lengths in hand from Kwong Chow

THE RACING.
The Non-Winners Handicap. There was nothing very exciting, about the curtain raiser as the favourite, won from start to finish. The winner impressed considerably in the saddling paddock which caused the punters to back him down to a considerable degree.
Ho justified their confidence as the issue was never in doubt.
The New Year Stakes. This race was big blow to punters as the heavily backed far- ourite was beater badly and did not succeed in getting a drum...
Backed like a moral certainty the favourite staged a most ignom- inious display and tailed off the field to the chagrin of his many confident backers. In the light of his previous win, at the last meet- ing, the result of yesterday's outing was most distressing.
Off to a very even start Desert Storm was quickly taken to the front by Mr. Gus" da Roza who allowed him to stride along easily closely followed by May, Doubtful and Cavalier. At the half mile post
Starting well, Cavalier made an there was little change excepting early beginning, closely attended by that Doubtful was not holding the favourite, who, however, camo ground and was finding his big swinging into the straight in great weight too much of a handicap style and was nicely placed about he fell back and was relegated to fourth berth his position being taken by Desert Wind who was im proving at every stride. Coming into the straight Desert Wind made a creditable effort, but was no match for Desert Storm, who came away nicely at the distance post to win by one and a half lengths from Desert Wind with May a further two lengths away third.
