YESTERDAY'S FREIGHT

RETURNS.

ONLY ONE BRITISH ARRIVAL.

HEAVY THROUGH FREIGHTS.

Of the fifteen arrivals and twenty- two departures shown for the hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday, only one British arrival and night, departures were shown. The gra eral cargo returns showed a big in- crease, especially the through cargo which averaged over 5,000 tons per vessel. There was да British through freight.

Thirteen vessels discharged 11,303 tons of general merchandisa for this port to which the s.5. Wray Castle was the only British contributor. The two best returns were from the 1. Wilfred (Norwegian) with 3,069 tons of coal and general cargo from Chinwangtao, and the 1. Wray Castle (British) from New York and Shanghai with about 2,850 tons of case oil, and iron plates.

Seven foreign vessels carried a huge total of 38,647 tozs of through freight. The two heaviest cargots were carried by the s. Laba (German) with 6,800 tons of general merchandise from Hamburg and Singapore, and the s.a. Fushimi Maru (Japanese) Trom Middles- borough and Singapore with 3,369

tons.

DETAILS OF "Freights." Wray Castle (British) arrived. from New York and Shanghai with 50,700 cases of oil, and 200 tons of iron plates for Hong Kong.

President Jefferson (American) arrived from Manila with 583, tons of tobacco, hemp, and drums for Hong Kong, and 1,943 tons of hemp, tobacco, copra meal and general merchandise for other ports Hanoi (French) arrived from Haiphong and Fort Bayard with 730 tons of cement; rice and general cargo" for Hong Kong.

Huong Hoi (French) arrived from Fort Bayard with 300 tons of gen- eral cargo for this port.

Laha (German) arrived from Hamburg and Singapore with 639 tons of general cargo for Hong Kong and 8,800 tons for through porta

Siara (Danish) arrived from Copenhagen and Shanghai with 7,172 tons of general cargo for other ports.

Taikoo Fatality.

Two Chinese workmen working on the sa. Talthybuis as the Taikoo Docks, fell into the hold sad were taken in a serious condition to the Government Civil Hospital. of the men died at 9 a yesterday morning, but the other is expected to recover,

Oll Fuel För Hong Kong. The Way Castle (British) which arrived here from New York and Shanghai carried 80,700 cases of oil fuel and 900 tons of iron plates for Hong Kong. The vessel is under command of Captain H. Layton and Messrs Dodwell's are the local agents. She was the only British arrival yesterday."

Water Still Low At Kongmoon, The masters of the Kongmoon river boats arriving here on Mon- day night report that the water a the West River is still very low. Great difficulty is experienced in approaching the wharves at that port, while others who are unable to berth are obliged to anchor in mid-stream.

Asiatic Deck Passengers.

Four vessels brought 302 Asiatic deck passengers to the port during the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yester day."
