Everlasting Punishment" the subject of the Lesson-Sermon. in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, November 4th.

The Golden Text was:

The

hope of the righteous shall be glad. ness but the expectation of the wicked shall perish" (Proverbs 10: RS).

Among the citations which com.' prised the Leason-Sermon was the following from the Bible: "The wicked worketh a deceitful work: bus to him that soweth righteous- ness shall be a sure reward, A righteousness teadeth to Ele; so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death. They that are of a forward heart are abomination to the Lord: but such as are up- right in their way are his delight. Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered" (Prov. 11: 18-21).

The Lesson-Sermon also includ- ed the fabowing passages from the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptores," by Mary Baker Eddy: We should relieve OUT

minds of the depressing thought that we have transgressed a mate rial law and must of necessity par the penalty. Let us reassure bur selves with the law of Love. God never punishes man for doing right, for honest fabour, or for deeds of kindness, though they expose him to fatigue, cold, hest, contagion " (p. 384).

FINAL RESIGNATION FROM GENERAL MOTORS

[RECTER'S AMERICAN SERVICE]

New York, Nov. 2nd. The New York Times under- stands that Mr. John J. Raskob, who resigned his position as Chair- man of the Finance Committee of the General Motors Corporation in order to become the Democratic campaign manager, will not re- turn to his old position after the election.

It is not known whether he will also resign his Vice-Presidency and Directorship of the Corpora- tion, but it is reported in Wall Street that be intends to sever ill connection with the company.

In

Mr. Raskob's position is curious sipee, prior to this election, he was regarded as a Republican. July last, however, he announced his resignation from the General Motor Corporation, in order to de vote his time and attention to the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee, which meant that he would be the director, of Governor Smith's presidențial cam- paign.

It is stated that the present whereabouts of the leader, whoee outrages have shocked the Ameri-. cas, are at present unknown, but it is added that only scattered handfuls of his followers, totalling altogether about eighty are still operating against law and order.
