their superiority over the South China outfit by defeating them by 9 runs to 8 at the Happy Valley diamond yesterday. With the ex- ception of one incident, the game was keenly contested in a sporting spirit, and there were fathes of brilliant play.

These two teams have met four times to decide the rubber. In the first encounter the game was called off on account of failing light when the visitors were leading by a comfortable margin. The second game resulted in a victory for the local side by enly one run. The visitors avenged their defeat in the third meeting, and held the Dragons down to a scoreless seven canto game. Yesterday the Shang- bai crew again accounted for the local team and thus walked off with the trophy-a cup presented by Sir Shou Sen Chow.

YESTERDAY'S GAME.

Amid uproarious applause Shanghai took the field when the game was called yesterday. The Dragons batted five men in the frat frame, but none of thein reach- ed second base. The visitors' re- ply resulted in six men going in to bat and of these Liu and Tsay came home.

With two runs to the good, the Shanghai qutfit took things less seriously when the local crew went in for their second innings. The home tean was only able to score one run in this frame. Shanghai, however, increased their lead by another two runs at the end of the second stanza through Tsang and Chen coming home and hits by Char and Loo respectively.

Batting in the third frame, Hong Kong got another run with seven men taking up the willow. The score stood at 42 when the visitors were dismissed with a blank in the third. Hong Kong equalised in the fourth through June and Choy coming home.

Excitement Tan high when Shanghai batted the fourth frame. They meant business and showed it too. Woo took up the bat first and I was pegged at first. Chen received

Still dazed when he came up for the tenth, Davies most cleverly kept out of danger, and, all things considered, the bout should have been kis "by a big majority of points, but it was given to Riddle, and it was not a popular decision.-N.-C.
