Although there were arrivals and twenty departures during the period ending at 9 a.m. yesterday general cargo for this port was low compared with the previous day.
Through freights also showed a decrease of nearly 5,000 tons. There were seven British arrivals and eight departures, while British ships were amongst the best cargo
carriers.
Eleven, vessels discharged 7,887 tons of merchandise of which ve British ships contributed 6,836 tons. The best returns were shown by the s.. Daithu Maru with 3,000 tons of limestone, from Kwoun Yuen, and the Ls. Talma (British) from Osaka and Moji with 1,501 Through tons of general cargo. freight carried by ten vessels amounted to 13,499 tons and seven British ships contributed 10.218 tona. The best carrier was British ship-the 3.5. Chatham with 5,774 tons of coal from Hongay, and the next best the ss. Rhein (German) with 2,746 tons of general cargo from Hamburg and Shanghai.

The RM.S. Empress of Canada (from Manila) is due at Hong Kong at 0a.m. on Sunday, August 6th, and will berth at Pier No. 5, Kow- Joon Wharf. She will leave for Victoria and Vancouver, B.C., vìì Shanghai, Kobe and Yokohama at 0a.m. on Wednesday, August 8th.
The B. & S. 8.8. Suigung left Shanghai on July 28th (vii Swatow) with 75 packages of mails for Hong Kong, and is due to arrive here to-day (Wednesday).
The B. & S. s. Luchowe left Shanghai on July 30th (pii Swatow) with 150 packages of manils for Hong] Kong, and is due to arrive here on Friday, August 3rd.
The m.v. Hendelberg (Hamburg- Amerika Linie), left Singapore on July 29th, wid Manila, and is due at Hong Kong en or about Monday, August 6th.
