BRITISH IMPORTS GOOD.

The general cargo returns for Hong Kong and ports beyond were well below average during the period ending at 9 a.m. yesterday. However, in addition to being best earriers, British vessels contributed a large percentage of the local im- ports. Fifteen arrival and twenty departures were shown.

According to yesterday's shipping | return another new British vessel made its maiden voyage to this port. She was the .s. Chatham from Muroran with 3,300, tons of coal for this port but an inquiring it was found that this vessel was formerly known as the xa. Eustville, and although she is still under the same house flag, her name has beca lately altered to Chatham. A other interesting feature is that she is chartered by the Mitavi + KASHMIR" Bussan Kaisha to carry a cargo KIDDERPURA" of coal to this port.
