SATURDAY'S LEAGUE MATCHES.
SOME GOOD SCORING: NORTHANTS NET TEN GOALS.
Saturday was one of the highest scoring days in the English. Football League this season. No fewer than 181 goals were regis. tered, of which 199 were netted by home playing teams,
There was some good scoring all through the League, with a amber of sixes and sevens, and one score of ten goals for one team. One match-Rotherham United and Wigan Boro'-was abandoned owing to bad weather, when the home team were leading in the second half by six goals to nil
In Division I., Bolton and Everton, both playing at home, won their fixtures by margin of seven goals to one goal. There were no away wins in this Division, but two matches were drawn. Tottenham also scored five.goals.
There were many 41 and 4-0. victories for. home teams in Division II., but the highest score obtained was five goals by South Shields,
In Division III. (Southern), the outstanding feature was the 10 goals to all victory obtained by Northants against Walsall
In Division III. (Northern), Wrexham netted five times and Nelson on four occasions.
The total goals scored by home and away teams will be found below. Those in the Rotherham match are not included.
There have been few material changes in "the League tables, except for a shifting in position on account of goal averages. Lenders in each Division remain the same. Portsmouth are now last in Division I. In Division III. (Southern) Northants by their fine win have obtained a useful goal average, which will take some henting. and are fairly, secure in their position at the top. Plymouth continue to improve.
