YESTERDAY'S FREIGHT
RETURNS.
LOCAL IMPORTS HEAVY.
SMALLER THROUGH CARGOES. |
With only three vessels out of the fourteen arrivals carrying freight for other ports, the total tonnage of cargoes manifested showed a heavy decrease for the 24 hours
ended as a.m. yesterday, as come. pared with the previous day.
Locat imperts, on the other hand, were much larger. No less than 21,432 tons were discharged here, Ave British vessels bringing 12,543 tons. The two best best returns were made by the British steamers Hector and Hin Sang.. The former from Shanghai had 4,300 tons and the latter ship from Sandakan brought 4,944 - tona.
The through cargoes amounted to 0,781 toos, 7,078 tons being carried by the 3.8 Shunko Maru, from Yokohama and Moji. The "... Arafura (British) bad 1,435 tons from Melbourne and Manila, The balance of 1.250 tons was carried by | the Sanjin Maru, from Keelung..
