There was plenty of hard, inter esting fighting throughout the Novices

Boxing Tournament Gameness and a bull-dog tenacity were the outstanding features.

The tournament, which began on Friday and ended on Saturday night, was for members of Royal Navy, Royal Marines and the Royal Air Force.

Saturday night's competition was held under the patronage of Rear Admiral Boyle, who, at the conclusion, presented the prizes to the winners.

The first knock-out of the evening was achieved by A.B. Kyte (Danac) in his bout with A.B. Scott (Her mex). Both men went at each other with gusto and there some real bard logging was done. Kyte, however, managed to floor his op. ponent with a neat left.

Contending for the heavyweight honour, A.B. Adams (Titania) met Sto. Cooksley (Titania) in a fast three-round contest. Both men started out with one idea-a knock out at the earliest opportunity. Adams scored during the beginning of the first round but towards the end Cooksley got in two capital lefts.

Kyte made a great effort using his left to good advantage. Garrod was just beginning to regain the points he had lost when the gong sounded. The decision was given in favour of Kyte.
