Advaared Cantonese Nationalist forces are reported to be in contact with Marshal Sun's troops who are digging themselves in near Sing- kiang. The arrival of disorganised and unofficered stragglers from Sun's army on the one hand, and of Shantung reinforcements on the other, adds to the delicacy of affairs in the city. The Authorities in the International Settlement have taken precautionary measures, in- cluding the mobilisation of the Shanghai Volunteers and the post- ing of troops at points along the
