Once again the pirates of Bias Bay have perpetented a daring piracy, secur- ed a large and valuable haul (on "this: occasion estimated at $10.000) taken a vessel to their old haunts, and got clear away in sampans.

(e) Perform such training preliminary "to range practice as may be ordered. by the administrative commandant, provided that this shall not exceed 3 hours in total duration. (2) Attend camp for our days. At least two of these days must be consecutive and include a night in camp. For attendance in camp to count 29 a day, an officer or volunteer must report himself in eamp before 8 a.m. and not leave the camp before 5 p.m. In special cases, approved by the adminis trative commandant, two days in camp may be replaced by drills at the rate of 2 drills for each day.

4. The administrative with the approval of the General Officer Commanding the Troops, may exempt any particular portion of the corps from any of the requirements of paragraph 3, or may substitute any other form of training for any of the said requirements. 3. The reserve company shall undergo the following training annually:-
(a) Musketry instruction and musketry
practice (a modified course only). (b) Annual inspection. The camp will be optional for this company.

There were 176.6 bours of sunshine (compared with 214.4 hours in September), and 3.275 inches of rain (compared with 17:30 inches in September). The average humidity was 74 (compared with 80 in September).
The rainfall for the month of October at the Botanical Gardens was 3.44 inches on 12 days; at the Matilda Hospital, Mount Kellett, it was 2.84 inches on 8 days, and at the Police Station, Taipo, it was 4.86 inches on 7 days.
The lowest reading of the "barometer (M.S.L.) was 29.650 inches at 18h on
