DELAY IN INTERPORT MATCH.

MISHAP TO 5.S.

PRESIDENT

HARRISON." SHANGHAI TEAM TRANSFER TO

S.S.

PRESIDENT PIERCE."

A cable received on Saturday morning announces that same misfortune (un known) has overtaken the President Harrison, It is probable, that the Shanghai team will come down in the President Fierer, arriving on Armistice Day.

Nothing definite can be stated at present save that all arrangements, except the Government House dance on Wednesday, November 17th, are cancelled, and a fresh tist will be issued as soon as possible.

It is improbable that the interport match can start before Saturday, Novem. ber 13th, which will mean postponing the Interport Dinner at the Hongkong Club probably until Tuesday, November

NOTES.

THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 8TB 1926.

On the whole the showing on Saturday was distinctly encouraging. The batting generally was excellent. Ramsay's knock was not only sound, but delightful to watch. Hayward also played "excellent cricket. No doubt there were very good reasons, but at first glanco.it was a little hard to understand why Ramsay was not pulled out after he got his century and Hayward after be completed his Bity, This would still have given Pearce and Hancock time for some practice and also given the team a little longer in the held As it was, they hardly had long enough, though they made an excellent, showing on the whole. It was good to see Reed bowling in the middle of the ground again. To the initiated, there is a certain stamp about his bowling which marks it as in a class by self out bere, and it is for this reason that I feel con

dent he will play in the side despite the il-luck and injuries from which he has suffered right up to the eleventh hour. The fielding of the side was good. I understand that it is reasonably certain that Pearce will keep, and that Ramsay carried on to avoid any possible injury to his hands. My readers will remember

(or perhaps two of the total three will)-that some such course was men- tioned as possible in my previous Notes.

I may again state that, rumours not- withstanding, the team to-day is not дя the Interport definitely selected Eleven. I am, however, prepared to A Reuter cable received from Shanghai lay heavy odds that it will be chosen

Morris succeeled and played some very pretty shots between point and cover, until he let go at a slow ope of Haley's and was caught by Sturgess for fifteen. (93.2.15.) The chaage of arrangements is most regrettable, but apparently something hay! happened to the President Harrison and the Shanghai side will not be here in all probability until the morning of November 11th.
