Over and over they revolved and twisted, squatting upside down on their heads and hands with the upright dummy-face nodding knowingly, rubbing their elastie feet together, like an old mandarin misering over bis hordes! Between these Syrations they would take a Chaplin walk round, the stage, and with their pates shaven, except for a fringe over the eyes, they might have been little ronke perambulating round somewhat garish cloisters.
Various other acrobatic and sleight of hand feats followed, but many preferred to see the sights of the Gardens. Down mouldering steps, past grottoes and caverns, under grey crags, reminiscent of Gilbert & Sullivan, they meandered. till they reached the main theatre.
