THE` ANNUAL 'GENERAL MEETING.
A SATISFACTORY YEAR'S WORKING.
The annual general meeting of the Hongkong Criket. Club was held at the Club Pavilion yesterday evening, when Mr. E. H. B. Hancock presided. . «
in detailing the events of the past year, the Chairman expressed regret at the death of the following members of the Club: Sir Paul Chater, Mr. P. E Holyoak, Mr. H. Tayler and Mr. J. M. Philips.
Continuing, he said although the prot for the year is some $500 less than for 1994/95 the, accounts show on the whole a very satisfactory year's working. The difference in profs is more than account ed for by receipts from tennis matches Last year exhibition matches by Ameri- oan and Japanese players brought in some $2,200, and gate receipts from the annual tournament matches were down this year by some 81,500, a total of 84,000
odd in receipts. To cfset this, subscrip- tions were up by $1,168, and bar profits by $1,778. Subscriptions were $1,000 more than the total working expenses, which was satisfactory. The Bar returns were very satisfactory, and showed so per cent. profit. This result had beca obtained not by higher cost of drinks, as their charges were less than most clubs, but on account of the careful supervision given to running the Bar by Mr. F. Syme Thomson, and his energetic assistante to whom best thanks were due. (Applause.)
In conclusion, Mr. Hancock remarked that the acting Hon Secretary, Mr. J. D. Humphreys, has had a difficult task in taking over the Secretaryship during the absence of Mr. L. S. Greenhill, but he wanted to put on record the Committee's appreciation of the way he had fulfilled. his duties, and to thank him for his hard and unselfish work. (Applause.)
The Chairma then proposed the adoption of the report and accounts. In secanding Mr. F. L. Crawford said that the year's success was due to the hard work put in by the Committed:

The Club as usqal entered a team in the First Division of the League Com petition. The result was satisfactory, and it is hoped that as more playing members are now available, the result will be better for the coming season.

Mr. S. Abbas has the best bowling average.
Tennis. Interest in this game was well main- tained throughout the season.
The Club entered two teams in the B and C." Divisions of the Hoog- kong Lawn Tennis Association. The re- sult of the..team in the "B" Division, was very satisfactory but that of the "C" Division leaves room for improve mcnt.

CRICKET NOTES.
very
The sides for today's game have already been published and aro much as were to be expected. The most notable absentée is Owen Hughes, who is, I understand, an usher at the wedding of Capt. Armstrong and Miss D. Holyoak. The bridegroom is well-known in cricket- ing ciroles, here as à very useful bat and an excellent field. The bride's father, the late Mr. P. L. Halyosk, was much interested in the past in the cricket of the Colony, though he did not take an active part in the game. The good-wishes of all cricketers go out to the happy pair today. May theirs be a long and plea sant innings; with an eary wicket all through life.
The only other absentee of importance who occurs to me at the moment, with the exception of Pearce is Captain Mor
I understand he will be back in the Colony about the 20th October. On the whole we have quite a number of fair bats but the bowling is weak.
The wicket, if it for play, should ba fairly easy at first but if we do happen to get any sun, which seems unlikely-it will give the alow stuff a chance.
