STERILISATION OF THE UNFIT.
Roman Catholic doctors attending the conference 'met at St. Philip's Hall to consider the subject-of-The- Sterilisa tion of the Unfit." At a special Mass held earlier in St. Barnabas "Cathedral the Roman Catholic Bishop of Notting- ham, in his sermon, said: "You Catholic doctors, more, perhaps, than anyone else in the whole world, have it in your power to check the moral disintegration that is going on around us and to influence the regeneration of human society by losing no opportunity of vindication, in season and out of season, of the great moral principles inculcated by dad's Holy Church as one by one they are impugned and set at bought by public opinion. The Church says that it is forbidden to sterilise anyone, even the unit."
At the subsequent meeting Dr." Colvin, "of Glasgow, said to-day people discussed complex tad abstruse questions.....of sex with the ane glibness of tongue as they discussed the face and figure of the latest film star. Boards of guardians had rej cently passed resolutions in favour of sterilisation of the unfit, the full import of which they knew as little about as they did of the shortage of housing or the planet Mars.
A resolution was adopted that sterf. lisation was not only immoral, but was likewise futile în preventing mental deficiency.
