GARAGE PROPRIETOR'S STORY.
Arthur Cuthbert Brodie, garage_pto- prietor, of Danogan-gardens, Eltham, was cautioned by the coroner, but on the advice of his solicitor, Mr. Chard, he elected to give evidence. He stated that he was proprietor of the Ace Garage; and said that during the time he had been there the garage had been broken in on three occasions previous to the tragedy. On the first £100 worth of goods had been stolen, and on the second” occasion £20 worth. The third burglary occurred six weeks ago, and the claim în respect of that was £120. In consequence of these burglaries witness applied for a pistol, as he kept a lot of money and stock in the garage, and it was granted on April 9th. Subsequently he applied for an extension of the license in respect of a rifle he wanted for rook ond rabbit shooting. That was granted “and the rifle was purchased in April.
The Coroner: Where did you propose to get your rook and rabbit shooting:➡| On a farm near by.
