It was an Empire garden party when the King and Queen entertained some 12,000 guests in the garden of Bucking, ham Palace on July and, the only royal garden party this season.
Thousands of motor-cars conveying guests to the party were held up in traffic blocks. Some people left their cars and walked to the Palace. At one time the line of traffic held up stretched Green Piccadilly-circus

It was not until about 8.30 that the King and Queen left the canopy on their way back towards the palace.
The guests included 300 Americans, who, like many over-acas visitors, were astonished at the sylvan beauty of the

CANCER OPERATIONS. THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY TREATMENT.
It was found, contrary to the belief of many surgeons and of the general public, that when patients undergo operation at an early stage of the dis ease, before it has spread from the breast, as high a proportion as 80 per cent. remain free from the disease ten -years-after-the operation. Reports from five other cities point to the same conclusion.
Of course, it was probable that in some instances shells had become buried in the course of action and had been overlooked
two had been found in this way about four years ago, but the allegation that half-buried shells were poking up over half the sea coast was absurd.
It will be remembered that in June, 1920, the Anglo-French firm, Messrs. F. N. Fickett and Son, of Wimerenx, bought up the whole of the surplus shells
