CATHEDRAL. --
Following is the substance of the sermaa preached in St. John's Cathedral
on Sunday morning by the Chaplain (the Rev. E. Copley Moyle) :-.

Six-There is one Public Utility Co., here which perhaps more than most comes
constantly into intimato contact with a very large proportion of the Public.
This is the Star Ferry Co., that being Ro one cannot help thinking that, as a Public Service, it leaves something to be desired, and perhaps a les remarks ja the subject may not be out of place.
Since the Strike-last year, there is a
distinct falling off in the way the Ferrics are handled. Now, though I personally. was not cogaged at the strikċ on them, some of my friends were, and the general opinion was that they were difficult to handle. Of course, & double ender is not the easiest sort of craft at any time, but with the constant practice the present coxswains have had, they should by now be able to make a better job of it than they do, unless there is something wrong. in the designing. It would be interesting to know, whether when the new ferries were built, they were built on the old design or whether a review of what bas been done in other parts of the world in regard to Double enders was made.
Whether it is due to faulty design or faulty handling-or both-the fact re- mains that there is a lot of time wasted on each journey, observation, one can definitely state that Taking a series of

Objections to St. John's authorship are based chiefly on the alleged differences between it and the Grst three gospels (St. Matthew St. Mark, and St. Luke) which are known As the synoptic gaspels. Some scholars' have objected that the name of the Lake of Tiberias was unknown till the second century and St. John used this name, but he also uses the name Sea of Galilee, which seems to show that he wrote in a period when the new name was coming in but had not yet entirely displaced the old. The fourth gospel dwells largely on the divine nature of Jesus, He was "The Wordmade Hesh, and if we had only this gospel we might fall into the error of making too little of the human nature of Jesus. Indeed it has been said that many Christians think exek sively of the divine nature that they practically forget that Jesus was a real and true man, with all a man's longings and desires. If we are in danger of doing we should do well to read a recent novel by John Ozcahan called The Hidden Days which gives us picture, fictitious, of course, but not im probable, of the life of Jesus during the time He spent in obscurity, in Nazareth.
