A RECRUTING CAMPAIGN, The Legion has issued a pamphlet on its aims and objects. It is now endeavour. ing, by means of a vigorous recruiting campaign, to repair the ravages made in its ranks by the Great Wai, (during which over 9,000 of the comrades in the Legion gave up their lives for Empire),

Branches have been formed in all quarters of the globe, and during the twenty-one years of their existence the Frontiersmen have done work of con siderable value to the State. They have participated in many affairs on the out- posts of the Empire, and rendered valuable intelligence services during the late War, in the course of which some. 0,000 Frontiersmen laid down their lives for their cause. They were amongst the first to come forward in almost every Unit and on every Front. They raised a Battalion for East Africa, the 25th (Service) Battalion Royal Fusiliers (Frontiersmien) and this was the only

one sent abroad without training.

The War Office recognises the Legion of Frontiersmen, but no government subsidy is granted. It is a voluntary corps.

The Legion of Frontiersmen, is des- cribed as a voluntary, self-governing, self-supporting body, a great patriotic society with no political creed but that of Empire, and they are banded together as a brotherhood of men who have strives for and know the Empire having seen its vastness and majesty with their own eyes To-day there are Frontiers men in all parts of world, not militant War-seeicers, but men who are yet ready to stand for Empire again should neces- sity arise. With that aim their desire is to be organised and prepared and to strive as far as time and circumstances will permit to keep ft and in touch with their old life. The motto which was engraved inside the ring of General Gordon they have adopted as their own "God Guard Thee. Wherever there are members of the Legion, there will the wearer of the badge fird comrades and friends to welcome him, abroad and at home.
