One of the most interesting exhibits in Scotland Yard's wonderful crime museum is a man's little Anger preserved in spirit. It was found on a spike on a all warehouse gate. The little natural markings on it, the ridges that every per- son has on his fingers, tracked a man down mare unerringly than a bloodhound on the trail
What happened was this, A burglar trying to climb the gate, slipped and fel, from the top. The ring which he wore on his right little finger caught in par of the spikes and held the man auspended ier an instant. Then the Enger was torn off, and the man fell and scaped.
The local police found the anger there and sent it to the Central Office. A print was taken, and warch was made in the files to see if a similar print exist ed in the criminal finger print record. An exnet replica was found, and the police went to the man's house and ar- rested him. There was no need to check up their points of identification, for when be held up his right hand it was seen that the little finger Bad recently been torn off.
