PARIS. September, s The length of the waistline these days is one of the moot points of fashion. First of all the mode generalisation, from such authorities se Patou is: "No waist- Mr. Benjamin line."

Another generality of the mode which bas, however, its exception, is the aar raw sleeve. INTERESTING CHANGES.
One of the most interesting things about the new styles is the way that the eir cular cutting has been modified, and tamed, so to speak, in this season's gowns. The very full circular skirts and tunics have almost disappeared, but a sligh circular movement appears in many of the attached tunica and tunic blouses. These flare discrectly toward the hem of the frock, which usually has a narrow skirt beneath the circular tunic, so that above the ankles a narrow skirt will show then above this the narrow bell of the tunic, which goes on diminishing in size to the hips, above which the bodice always appears to be quite narrow and straight, or even a little fitted in to follow the curve of the back Circular tanics attach- ed to the skirt are seldom full enough to. form marked godets in. falling, though (Continued on next column.)

One of the amusing fashions in women's dress is an adaptation of the "plastron or man's shirt front as a decorative fea- ture in woman's frocks. During this
# whole season a great many frocks bave. featured the plastron, either in white or. in a colour contrasting with the body of the frock. A simple chemise dress inde in this way has a great deal of character, with the utmost simplicity of line. The plastron front is simply attached to the dress, either underneath, in the form of a dickey which is firmly basted in place, or as an applique. The fact of being easy to remove is one of the chief points of the plaatron, as it is usually of a light colour and often needs to be cleaned more frequently than the frock it accom panies. The plastron is often quite deep, reaching to the waist level, while the frock will have a narrow belt about the hips, and it usually takes up at least half the width of the dress front, contred, of course, in the middle. Smaller plastrons often verge on the form of the jabot, and sometimes even have frills of lace edging
