THE CHINA (BOXER) INDEMNITY,

FB.L ASK FOR INDUSTRIAL

REPRESENTATION.

The Federation of British Industries feel considerable auxiety in regard to the application of the funds arising from the Boxer. Indemnity, due to Great Britain from China. In 1000 His Majesty's Government decided that the balance of these payments should be devoted to pur- posta mutually beneficial to Grent Britain and China, instead of, 43 previously, to the Sinking Fund.

In due course the Federation addressed a letter to the then Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, pointing out the import- ance of this matter to industry, and ex- pressing the hope that any Committee to consider the application of these funds would include an industrial representative or representatives. In reply they re- erived an

assurance that a Committee would be set up in due course, on which industrial interests would be adequately represented,
