MR. TSE TSAN TAL'S DISCOVERIES. Mr. The Toan Thi (of the Compradore Department of Messrs. Shewan. Tumes & Co.), whose interest in geology is well known, has discovered a valuable and apparently extensive deposit of limestone in British territory, near Sha Tau Kok- Current Accounts opened and
the hills and under the sea, This Deposits received at Rates which may be sacer stone has been tested-with-highly-antistained an application
The Byak lસત conducta factory results and at present being used for lime burning purposes, but Mr. Department
se hopes later on be in a position, to supply the wants of the Government and the Colony, The Government has grant ed to Mr. Tse Tsai Tai a log lease for an area of over one hundred acres
Mr. The Tsai Tai also expects to ob- thin a lease for a large mining area in the Ng Tung Shan district, a few railes from Sha Tao Koh va the British frontier. We understand that Mr. Tse Tsan Tai
applied to the Canton Government for this area in 1919, and that the granting of the lease has been delayed by the *kaleidoscopic changes in the levern- ment, since that date. The lease was just about to be issued by Yeung Wing Tai, when he was forced to Bee from Canton, Subsequently, Mr. Tse Tsan Tai applied to ex-Civil Governor Chan Chik Yue for the lease, when he 100 Was
obliged to leave Canton, when just about to grant him the lease.
Howeyer, Mr. ise hopes, eventually, to obtain this tense, as he has already gone to the great expense of cutting two miles of road up the mountain side, and has also built bis workmen's sheds and prepared the sites for his lime kilns.
So far, Mr. Tse Tan Tai bas been his own geulogist and mining engineer, as having previously formed his opinion re- garding unheavals and subsidences in Asin and the Pacific, he is of the decided Along the South coast of China are moun- tain tops, and he agrees with Professer Schofield of the University of British Columbia that the local const is ** drowned coast."
ነፂ
It was this eonriction that led Mr. Tse Tsan Tai to presevere, and to pro. spect under the sea for the limestone strata, and he has succeeded in finding it in spite of expert opinions to the cou trary He has been patiently at work on these inyestigations for the past five years.
Mr. Tse Tsan, Tai says he had also noticed a veia of scrpenine limestone. Dear the sea at Taipo, nad he believeN that there are other deposits of high- grade, limestone hidden somewhere in the hills of the New Territories. He strongly recommends a careful and thorough gen logical examination of the island (moan; tuin tops) and the submerged coast (mountain aides) of the bays and inlets of Mirs Bay.
THE SAIGON RICE MARKET.
Mesars. Wi G. Hale & Co., Ltd., of Saigon, in their eircular dated Jane sud sayThe only feature of the last fort night under review has been the coming on the market of the Japanese buyers. A good amount of business, could have bcen effected, but all the enquiries ar- rived at the same time, determining a sudden and strong advance in our prices. In fact, rice sellers were absolutely afraid by all the orders received, and as the stocks of paddy were not very great, holders of sune seized this opportunity to raise their prices and our market absolutely Doomed within a day. As a result of it, only a few thousand tons have been closed, out of about 50.000 tons er quiries receives, the bulk of the business going to Hangoon which is reported to have sold nearly 300,000 tons,
Japanese buyers have since withdrawn. and no deunad is coming from anywhere. Consequently our market is daily slowly, declining and closek weak at about same figures as a fortnight ago.
Paddy-Arrivals are still very" "poor," Folders expecting better prices and avail- able stocks in Cholen are not very large.
New Crop-The weather is very favour able to prepare the ground and in some districts work is already advancing.

The Compagne de Commerce" & de Navigation d'Extreme-Orient of Saigon, in their report on the Rice Market dated June 3rd say-Our market has remained unchanged. A few sales have been con- cluded with Japan, but demand from Japan has ceased suddenly, prices bring too high. We are still expecting a bet ter situation here without which business will be impracticable. The total amount for rice exported from the 1st January to 18th May, 1924, is C03.250 tons, against 615,071 in 1993. We quote to-day white Saigon rice No. 2 eifted, Japan quality. The Day of the Knight is Here!
IT IS THE
WILLYS KNIGHT
=
Simplest and most trouble-free type of motor ever invented,
It has the most distnctive and gracefully balanced body of any car
in the market.
L-The_Willys-Knight car is the four cylinder motored car that makes the six
unnecessary.
The Kuight motor is steam principic. The valves are two cylindrical sleeves with rectangular sleta or ports which when they register with each other and the ports in the block allow the ingress and egress of the gas without obstruction. This wide open passages, particularly on the exhaust side, permit a more thorough cleaning of the burat gases from the combustion chamber than any other type of motor, so that every ounce of energy available is utilized from the explosive mixture, which gives us such tremendous power sy
2
2-It has no valve to grind and no carbon to clean.
The combustion chamber is completely surrounded by water and an allay piston noted for its great bea radiating qualities is used so neither the combustion chamber nor the head of the piston gets hos enough to bake. the residue from the exposed gases to form carbon while there in still enough beat maintained to handle the explosive: mirture effectively.
-It is the only type of motor that improves with use.
While carbon can not form in the combastion chamber, still a certain amount of the residue from the Barur gases works up behind the wide sealing ring in the cylinder head and, as this building in process obtains, it keepe pushing this sealing ring more tightly against the inner sleeve until it completely scale the compression chambor developing more power with every mile the motor is drawn.
-It is the only type of motor that wears in while other wears out,
All parts in the Willys-Knight car ar narxibled with wide clearance between caca other and oil is forced- into thear clearances under heavy pressure so that the entire assembly is lapping or wearing in on these heavy films of oil instead of wearing out. In other words, every bearing in this motor is an oil bearing instead of a metal to metal bearing which is necessary in the construction of a poppet valve motor in crder to keep it quiet with subsequent quick
wur and noise.
It has timinated our hundred and silty two quick wearing parts necessary in the operation of a cylindered poppet valve motor. There are no hammering parts such as came striking against push rods, push rusla aguinat valve stems, or valve heada saapping back into their eat through the medium of heavy springs, etc.
