THE BRITISH DUTY ON CHINA TEA

PRESS, FRIDAY, APRIL 4TH, 1924

Mr. Edward White, 20. Eastchenp, writing to a home paper, says it is surely A travesty of Imperiat Perference to ini pose a paltry duty handicap ga China tea- imports. I doubt very much if the sun realised by the Exchequer covers the cost" of collection, qud" what about exparts to China from Makelwater Do not those cant for Something in weiprocal trade? Although China is provvoted by hidebound tarif treaties from malindry upsel duties herself. she has other ways of redying what she runsders unjust treat ment, as Jaya has already exper need to her nat

In his report upon the Fisheries of Malaya. Mr. D G Stead, Fisheries Enquiry Cossioner, age: This trade is entirely in the band of the" Chinege. The Ans of the larger sharks are collected regularly at all the "fishing centres and at. many of the markets, especially as regaris the fishing centres, where the remarkable type of set-line known as Rawai are used. Much of this is used in Malaya, although largely forwarded to China. According to the export returns for 1992 at least 10,000 s, weight was forwarded to China. Most of the Chines kedal in Malaya stock sharks fit for u in Chinese cookery. I have frequently seen Chinese street cooks and others shredding these fios, and he doubt they assist in I making a very tasty dish. At the same time an immense destruction of shark in accounted for.

WORLD-

The Day of the Knight is Here !

IT IS THE

WILLYS KNIGHT

Simplest and most trouble-free type of motor ever invented.

It has the most distnctive and gracefully balanced body of any car

in the market.

L-The Willys-Knight car is the four cylinder motored car that makes the six

unnecessary.

The Kuight motor in steam principle. The valves are: two cylindrical sleeves with rectangular lots or porta which when they gister with each other and the ports in the block allow the ingress and egress of the gasey without obstruction. The wide open passagem, particularly on the exhaust side, pernit u man thomugh cleaning of the burut uses from the combustion chamber than any other type of motor, "that"every ounce of energy available is atiliz! from the explosive mixtan, which gives us such tremendous power.

2-It has no valye to grind and no carbon to clean.

The combustion chamber is completely surrounded by water and an alloy piston uoted for its great best radiating qualitia is used so neither the combustion chamber nor the head of the piston gets hot enough to take the resida from the exposed gases to form carbon while there is still enough hent maintained to handle the explosiss anixture effectively.

3-It is the only type of motor that improves with use.

While carbon can not form in the combustion chamber, still a certain amount of the residue from the burnt gases works up behind the wide waling rior in the cylinder head and, as this building in process obtains, isko pushing this sealing ring mor tightly against the infier sleeve nutil it completely seals the compressing chamber derdigung more power with every mile the untor is drawn.

4-It is the only type of motor that wears in while other wears out.

All parts in the Willys-Knight car ar assembled with wide clearance between such other and oil is forced into the clearances under lwavy promare so that the entire assembly is lapping or wearing in on these heavy films of vil instead of waring out. In other words, every bearing in this motor is an oil bearing instead of a metal to melal haring which is nessary in the construction of a poppet valve motor in order to keep it quiet with subsequent quick wear and note.

It has eliminated one hundred and sixty two quick wearing parta necessary in the operation of a cylindered poppel valve motor. There are no hammering parts such as cams striking against posh rods, paal: rods against vale straw, or valve heads mapping back into their seats through, the medium of heavy splings, etc.
