RENT RESTRICTIONS BILL
Losoy, March 11th There were lively seenes in the House of Commons today at the comunitare stage of the Rent Restrictions Bill that Gov. ernment did not intend to back up. The measure was indicated by the withdrawal of Mr. John Wheatley and Sir Patrick Hastings from the committee which evoked a protest from Conservatives who de manded an adjournment, but the motion was ruled out of order.
Labour Members angrily interrupted" spetches of Conservatives which they des cribed as dilatory and obstructive and noisily defind the Chairman's ruling that the committee should adjourn, till March 13th. The uproar continued even after: the Chairman left the chair.

"FREE DEINKS FOR YOUNG CLERGYMEF.""
Н
Loxton. March 18th. In the House of Commons, Mr. Thomas Johnston (Lab., West Sterling) suggested that in view of the necessity for retranch ment the anual payment of £2,000 from public funds to the High Commissioner ta the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland should be stopped.
Mr. Adamson said that the grant was made to the High Commissioner towards the expenses incurred by him in the dis charge of his duties. He understood that this sum was not more than was hufficient to meet spenses, and he could not see his way to recommend a stoppage of the payment
Mr. Johnston: Does Mr. Adamson think that it adds to the dignity of this office that the High Commissioner should he made the channel through which a large sum is spent on wasteful expendi ture, including the free supply of drink to young clergymen of the Church of Scotland (oud laughter and cries of

HOW TO GET GOOD SERVICE FROM
MICHELIN TYRES.
tell
Keep tyres pumped up to correct pressure for the load they have to carry. We can you what this should be,
When tyres are under inflated there is continual internal friction between the foundation cord and the rubber, causing overheating of the tyre and consequent rapid deterioration.
Water can also enter causing rust, resulting eventually in the rims. having sharp edges which cut the walls of the tyre near the bead.
Most cars in Hongkong run on under inflated tyres with the above disastrous results. Have your wheels examined front and rear for trueness and tracking alignment. If they are at fault in this respect the tread of the cover is subject to a grinding action which quickly destroys the cover.
Keep tyres free from oil and grease.
Start and stop gently and take corners slowly.
