The Japanese Reamer, the Alps Maru, of 7.000 was, from Yokohama, is lying in this Thanes off Gravesend with a fire in one of her holds,
The fire was discovered when the vessel was off Dungeness on Wednesday night. Three tugs and a fire float were pouring water into the ship all day yesterday but at a late hour last evening the fire had not been overcome.
Last evening after a haich had been re moved there was an explosion. The boat- swain wis burnt on the head, and a num- ber of the crow were also injured."
