ago the. Committee Privileges of the House of Lords upheld the claim to the Barony of Lady Bewicke- Copley, wito of Sir Robert Bewicko- Copley. She proved her descent from the first Baron, who was summoned to the Upper Chamber in 1875,
On June 27th, Lady Rewicke-Cokley died at her home, Sprotborough Hall, Doncaster, while the funeral service of her husband. whom she had nursed in his last illness, was taking place.
While she lay dying her family received an intimation that the King had been pleased to revive the Barony in her favour. She died before any official

A particularly interesting position has been reached with regard to the. Joint, Committee of both Houses, which has been considering the question of
the nationality
of married women. The Committee con- sisted of five members of each House, with Lord Chelmsford ne chairman, Sir John Butcher presented a draft report, which recommended that a British woman marry- ing an allen should have the right to re ail her British nationality if she so desired. The five members of the Hous of Commons voted for the report and the five licers against it, so tint the report was not adopted. Lord Chelmsford then pro sented a draft report suggesting that there should be no material alteration in the ex- isting law, and this was supported by the prets and opposed by the representatives of the Commons, and was consequently not adopted. It was finally decided that both raft reports should be embodied in a White Paper, which has now been laid ou the table of the House, and will be issued shortly. It is said to be many years sinen there has been a clean-cut difference of pinion of this kind between the two Housos.-Times.
