PARIS, December 4th. Shoes are a marvel of daintiness and decoration thin season more than aver before Wemen are now wearing in the street shoes which would have been 'con- sidered flimsy and low-cut to the extant of being vulgar if worn in a drawing-room Shoes are ten or twenty years ago. showing so much of the instep and the sides of the feet that the only real part of the shoes seems to be the solo. The most popular ramps are long with printed toes and decidedly high heels. Some bottiers are trying to bring about a return to toes rather less pointed by making models with toes which are a compromise between the needle-point and the round rubby toe, but it yet remains to be seen whether such s wish on the part of bottire will find an echo. in the heart of women of fashion.
For evening wear, there are satin and. suede shoes omamented with sparkling bead embroideries. These are: to be seen in white silver, grey and as well as in every bright shade to match the fashion. able, bright-cloured evening dresses with which they are to be worn. A brilliant effect is created by decorating one's 'white' satin shoes with diamente, especially if the whole of the front width is covered in this. way. White or ivory satin ornamented in this manner looks wonderfuly smart and effective.
Bronze shoes are very popular, too, be.. cause so much brown is being worn this schson and bronze is a shade that adapts it. self so easily to any shade of this useful colour. The brocade shoe is another variety which always finds, favour in feminine eyes,
it can be wera with so many different types of dresses, proring its right to be considered economical as well as becoming. As to the black satin shoe, it would be hard to imagine an age when this attractive form of footwear was not in vogus. Just now it is much favoured by women who have arrived at an age when they put comfort before originality and style. Asatio ahoe which can be worn in the street as well as for purely evening wear is in a rich kind of prunella, and the plain effect of ordinary satin is still further taken aff, by means of rows of fine stitchings in grey or red silk. The court shoe is an- other invention which is, apparently, an dificult to do away with as the satin evan ing shoe. In Paris, it is being worn ex tensively for day as well as evening wear, in satin and fancy materiale just as much as in kid and patent leathers..
For those who prefer the latest novelties, there are shoes for day wear, with long. high ramps that cover up the instep and are cut up the front into tiny straps, dach of these being ornamented with a glass button or bead; in black, this is partien- larly becoming as the beads are graduated
til the top trap is left with quite a siell one. Other models of this type bare straps and borders in patent leather that are hand-painted; such a trimming is seen to advantage on suede shoes..
Harnessing the evening shoe to the Ankla is another new idea. This idea is not only original, but it certainly provides a good safeguard against ankle.turning. There is far more strapping than any other form of decoration to be seed on shoes, but a quantity of Langtry shapes have recently made their appearance and show signs of becoming popular with the multitude be fore" long. These are trimmed" with wonderful buckles or fantastic, finishings of all kinds of cockades made of ribbon, feathers, or ruchings of similar material to one's dress.
Some of the latest street models come up. over, the ankle. There are known by the name of "bettikins" and they are made of soft glacé kid in such colours as apple-green, scarlet and royal blue. They pull right over the foot, and some are bound round the edge' with fur.
Amongst the fancy skins which are being used for the fashioning of street shoes are turkey skin, suede and crocodile. Apart from these exceptions, patent leather and glace kid remain the chief glory of bolliers and the elegantes for whom they spend their time designing and fashioning attractive fout year.

The well-dressed woman in Paris has re- tarned to the wearing of dark-coloured stockings for street wear. For the past two years or so there has been a perfect rage for the wearing of grey, or fawn-coloured stockings, with black shoes, in the street. in preference to black stockings. It was quite mare to see women who had any pre- tence to being well-dressed wearing stock- inga in a darker shade than either of these two. Even taa yas considered too dark, i and fawn, or light grey stockings con- tinued to be worn with tau as well as with, black shoes. Finding, doubt, that the custom has become rather too comtoon, they are now returning to the old fashion of wearing black bose with black shoes, and ton or brown hose with tau or brown shoes."
